MARGOT GET CASH MONEY. Another Padres win. 12 and 16. Huge.
No team has lost more road games than the Padres, but there’s no place like home for San Diego, where the team’s home record is 6-4.
In former Padres manager Bud Black’s return to Petco Park, the Pads put in some work. Trevor Cahill was masterful through six innings, surrendering just one run (unearned) and striking out seven.
Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood had a no-hitter entering the sixth, but that quickly ended as Manuel Margot hit a triple after a Trevor Cahill walk. Had anyone but Cahill been on base, it would’ve likely been an inside-the-park home run for the Dominican:

From there, Wil Myers hit a double before Yangervis Solarte and Ryan Schimpf blasted back-to-back homers. What was a 1-0 Rockies lead turned into a 5-1 Padres lead that Colorado wouldn’t even come close to sniffing. San Diego eventually took care of business and came out of the series opener with a 6-2 win.
